I meditated on Dante’s Inferno long enough
to slip into a deep depression. This was a

couple of years ago, but I’m not sure I’ve
come out of it yet. I don’t really think that

hell has rings. I tend to think of an infinite
abyss. I’m probably wrong about that, but

I’m sure that if hell is real, it’s far worse than
imaginable. I just can’t fathom it, but if the

work of Dante is any hint, then I know it can
make a soul sink into a deep, dark pit.
